I can't figure out how to use the paver effectively. I've learned that pressing the X key on my keyboard activates it but whenever I move forward it seems to pave a road that extends upward. Is there a way to get it to just pave a level road across the surface of the planet? The controls for it seem very awkward and I haven't figured out how to use them. Thanks.

The oxygen goes away when you activate the core. I usually dig down from a base, with my rover, to the outer tendrils, run back up to the base and run a tether all the way to the core. Just for funs. You want some oxygen there so you dont have to panic port back to the surface where you can breath.
