2023 6.6 NOISE QUESTION. Hey guys, just bought my 1st NEW Duramax (EVER) and have a question. The truck is a 2023 GMC AT4 HD! Have owned many used high mile 6.6 trucks and still have a 16 Denali 2500HD with 209k miles that was put on a diet.The noise could be described as an irregular ticking or clacking sound like random typing on a mechanical typewriter. On the 2020 there are two belts now and the fan is by itself. GMTECH link has a small description on the problem but no resolution. The ticking noise could be that you are snesative to the ticking noise that Duramax engines make, some more than others. The valve lash seems to be a noise maker. I hear ticking in my engine, but I believe I'm pretty sensitive to it. A little bit less noisy with 15W-40 oil vs 5w-40.
