Trailer Brake Service message comes up on my 2017 Silverado 1500.I had it in a repair shop today.Checked fuses, tried a new controller mod and a new in dash controller. Problem not solved. Plug into computer to get codes and get a "not connecting" read. I hooked up to a trailer and the trailer brakes did work.To reset the service trailer brake system, turn off the vehicle and remove the key from the ignition. Disconnect the brake controller from the trailer to avoid interference with the resetting process. Turn on the vehicle without starting the engine, and press and hold the brake pedal for 15 seconds to activate the reset function.I had to install an aftermarket toggle switch directly to the starter and with key in on postion hit toggle and it starts.
