Dodge durango intermittent starting problem.
Mar 6, 2017 · My guess is the pump is the issue. Repop pumps, like sensors and thermostats, aren't very good. Try priming it by pressing the start button with no brake for a few seconds. Then if it starts with the brake / Start button then it's the fuel pump not holding it's pressure.

Occasionally the starter cranks, but the engine won't fire. sometimes if I tap the accelerator pedal it will start. May go for days & start fine. The crankshaft turns fine but the Dodge Durango will not start and begin to run. After about the 4th or 5th attempt to start the SUV the engine starts up momentarily but then immediately shuts off. Check all fuses associated as best I could, no blown fuses, not sure if the relays were all functioning. Jun 4, 2007 · Put a meter on the battery terminals. The voltage should read 12 or more volts. Now turn the key. If the battery voltage drops substianlly lower (10, 9, 8 volts), then the solenoid is probably OK and your battery's bad (even if it's a new battery) (or something's pulling the battery down (bad starter winding)).

To fix it, I would stop the car, shut the ignition off, open the door, turn it back on and the problem would be resolved.
