Something like China Glaze Liquid Leather is a great black - nice consistency and opaque at two coats. And it wouldn't take a lifetime to dry! To remove, cover your nails from every angle with cuticle oil (or some oil). Put them in hot water with a small amount of soap for 15 minutes. Depends on the type of polish. Magnetics always take me way longer so for regular non magnetics it takes me about 2.5 hours start to finish. If I used magnetic polish then it’s closer to 3.5-4 hours because I let the nails dry between every single coat.

If you are cutting or filing your proximal nail fold, this could be what’s causing the problem. Because this is living skin, clipping it will cause it to callus and grow back hard and cracked (this is because the skin is basically trying to defend itself). I used to constantly clip mine and struggled with dry and cracked proximal nail fold.I actually only use 100% acetone now as I mostly work with gel polish and the non-acetone stuff is useless on gel. I also prefer to use cotton squares that are usually used in facials for removing product. They tend to have a little bit of a rougher texture and help remove the polish better. After it’s all dry, I’ll use a cuticle oil then hand lotion. I’d say start by regularly moisturizing your hands.
