Older outlets with a white/clear plastic insert may have issues with frequencies >1GHz. Worked fine for analog TV but not so much for modern digital cable or internet. The good connectors (google "F81 connector" to see pics) will usually have a blue plastic insert and are rated to 2 or 3 GHz.
If you don't need all of your cable lines active, I would disconnect one of the white cables from the splitter with 3 hooked up and connect the one that is currently on that wall mounted splitter to the one with 3 outs. That should get you up and running (just will disable a different coax connector in the house). 2. The splitter in there does not appear to be doing anything.
