I'll be shocked if the new Gen 3 barrel and bolt carrier assembly are not backwards compatible with an MCX Vortus3. My 11.5 virtus is around 1500 rds in with zero malfunctions, easily one of my m one my favorite rifles.

It looks like I can get MCX CARRIER GROUP for $449, the Upper Receiver for $499, and Charging handle for $99. Whenever the 6.75" barrel comes back in stock would add another $600. So roughly $100ish cheaper (if I'm not missing something) than waiting for them to make a 6.75" Virtus upper, which seems unlikely.

The reason the Virtus has a special trigger is because the hammer interfaces with the firing pin latch on the Virtus upper a certain way. So you need an MCX trigger with a Virtus upper. Not sure what aftermarket Virtus accessories are available that won't also fit the Spear...
