The hand being invisible probably helps, but I just can't imagine you could get the same deft touch with it. The caster doesn't feel through it, so it would be impossible to properly gauge force. Personally, I’m not a fan of it. It has some neat role play aspects (setting up camp, personal butler, etc.), but mechanically there’s not much it can accomplish that you couldn’t do with Find Familiar or Mage Hand. I think the fact that it’s invisible is what sets it apart.
