The spring-loaded chain adjusters are good as far as they go but if you had 65K on the 1300 when the problem went down then the adjuster had probably reached end of travel and the chain was loose. To compare apples to oranges, most cars need timing chain attention about 70K especially if there is an interference fit.

The 1300s have no fuel light but have a petcock to switch to reserve when it starts bogging down. The fuel light means you have about a gallon. Shock adjusts from 1 to 5. 5 the shock is longer.....1 shorter. I have mine at 3 and keep it there.
