Yeah I think it does a good job of that.. definitely for the smoky, and the (likely) ex-Bourbon/refill dominant cask makeup. In my opinion, it drinks like a blend—something more similar to Big Peat (hey maybe that’s better representation of Islay scotch…)

It’s certainly not the peatiest thing ever but it’s like $30 and is enough to satisfy an Islay itch on a budget. Other budget Islays that I found in the Vaults YouTube comments: Smokey Joe, Scarabus, Langs Full and Smoky, and Glen Ness 8. Scarabus is great value. Big Peat is a little pricier but worth it, imo.

If you don’t mind blended, their Kirkland 12 year old blended scotch isn’t bad for $35/1.75 liter, but the giant bottle makes me feel like an alcoholic (it seems so much larger than a normal handle bottle). ...
