Gmc sierra speakers not working.

Seems as others have had the same problem. One solution offered up that was said to work was to unhook the negative cable from the battery and give it a couple of minutes and then hook it back up again. Source said that fixed his radio issue. My buddy took it to his shop today and hooked it to their Tech 2 scan tool and tried to reprogram the Head Unit. They got it to unlock and it shows that it is working, but there is no sound.
