I'm looking around for a 336 but have come up with some pictures labeled 30a (glenfield). Comparing pictures I'm trying to figure out the difference between the 2. The 30 AS had a beech stock and was 38 1/4 inches all the other specs were identical. Like. I've seen these units mostly with pressed birch stocks. The one I got today has a fancy dark walnut stock and the forearm almost looks like a dark burl walnut, it has a gold trigger and copper butt plate.

I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay! Now it looks like a 336sc (sporting carbine). Found this cool info to determine age of marlin/glenfield rifles made in 1973 and newer models. Mine was serial number 270---61.
